There have been wars fought, lives lost, buildings destroyed, but also many lives destroyed with deep pain because of all the effects after World War I. War began on July 28,1914, when Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. One simple action can have a thousand causes to it and destroy lives. Many had to live with the pain and still wonder what other causes spurred the war. In truth, I believe the main causes of the war were imperialism, militarism, nationalism and alliances. Imperialism is said to be a system where a powerful nation rules and exploits one or more colonies. The European nations ruled smaller countries, called colonies, and then would amass more colonies. The gathering of these colonies became known as Imperialism. Both France and Britain had many colonies in Africa and Asia, so then Germany and Italy decided they wanted a whole colonial empire as well. Due to these actions it caused smaller nations to consider becoming their own country. There was several issues dealing with Imperialism that lead to WWI. Militarism is said to be a belief in having a strong army or navy force. Most of the nations that were involved in the war became trapped in a an arms race with one another causing conflict ,deadlier weapons, and a large amount of armies. This belief led to a big rivalry between Germany and Britain. Britain had a large navy so than,Germany would want to be the same and have a large navy.
