Germany played a major role in causing World War 1 by instigating, expanding, and escalating the war, to a great extent Germany should be blamed for the war because through Kaiser Wilhelm who wanted Germany to be of world power, through the Zimmerman Treaty which caused the U.S. to join the war, and the competitiveness between the nations to build the most destructive and advanced weapons. Militarism is the building up of an army/navy due to the belief that military glorifies its nation. As stated in the tribunal handout, Germany was the most technologized and advanced country. They brought new weapons that would make WW1 the most modernized war, therefore escalating it. German U-boats set examples for countries everywhere on what style and destruction their weapons should create. The U-boats were submarines that sent torpedoes to sink enemy boats. In 1917 German U-boats sank 3 American ships, completely destroying the boats and caused a loss of casualties (L.P #4.7). Germany produced the first machine guns which were able to shoot ammunition rapidly, inflicting the most damage. The most modernized technology the Germans introduced into the war was that of Chemical gases, a toxic gas bomb that were launches into opposing sides trenches and would explode so the toxic gas filled up the enemies lungs and suffocate them. Germany set a huge example to follow with their weapons of mass destruction. As the most advanced country they were able to skillfully create the weapons to a higher level of destruction and more modernized. All countries participating in war followed the examples that Germany laid upon them of warfare.
