Each year hundreds of thousands of visitors make the journey to the world heritage listed Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park in the heart of Australia 's red centre. There are two major points of interest within the park: Uluru, also known as ayres rock and Kata Tjuta, also known as Mount Olga or simply the Olgas. Uluru is a magnificent rock formation that reaches 348 metres above the surrounding plain. situated approximately 450 kilometres south-west of Alice Springs by road, Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park covers an area of 1325 square kilometres.
In Hawaiian Haleakala means “House of the sun.” Haleakala National Park is located in the island of Maui, Hawaii. “Maui’s two eroded volcanoes, Haleakala and West Maui, were once part of a large volcanic massif made up of six major volcanoes. When sea level was lower, during the coldest times of the Pleistocene Epoch, the six volcanoes formed one island.” Haleakala is a part of the Kea trend of volcanoes that includes West Maui, Mauna Kea and Kohala volcanoes.
The temperature was estimated at around 1200°C. The lava tubes and cave were formed when lava flooded down to a confined valley, crusted over and formed a roof. The lava flow carried on for tens of kilometre, before draining out, Leaving an empty tube of lava which formed a lava tube. Weak sections of the roof of the lava tubes later collapsed that formed caves. There were more than 50 caves found in the Undara national park.
Kumulipo is a Hawaiian chant that describes the story of creation along with a genealogy of Hawaiian royalty. This story was brought to Hawaii by the marriage of two people, Pi 'ikea and ‘Umi. During the time of the formation of this myth Hawaiia was under the authority of a corrupt monarchy, and the dominant religion on the island was Roman Catholicism. It was first printed in 1889, at the time it was in possession of the ruling king, Kalakaua. The story of creation is told by a series of 16 chants, many containing multiple parts.
The Venus of Willendorf Sculpture was made in 24,000- 22,000, Before the Common Era (BCE), the Paleolithic Period or Old Stone Age, which was the longest phase of human history. The Paleothic Period was made up of nomadic hunters and gathers that were sheltered in caves, used fire, and stones for tools. A fun fact about this discovery is that it is the earliest pieces of prehistoric sculpture that has ever been found. It was made by hand, made of limestone, has a height of 11cm and was found in Willendorf, Austria. When looking at this piece, you would probably see the female reproductive anatomy that has been a bit exaggerated.

Significance: In this scene, Tita is drinking the ox-tail soup that Chencha made her and cries. The author uses magical elements to make something as simple as crying into a unreal and unbelievable event.

Once plugged into this Experience Machine you cannot turn back to reality, you would not be able to know if you were in a type of a never ending vivid dream. This scenario has led to the debate over what the correct choice would be if you had the choice to plug into the machine.
Samantha Johnson Dr. Cleworth ENH 251 28 June, 2016 Pele: The Unsurmountable Goddess of Fire, Lava, and Volcanoes Our book, World Myth, discusses Polynesian Myth briefly in Chapter 13, touching on small aspects of Hawaiian mythology. However, I found it to be incredibly interesting that in the section about Hawaiian mythology, there is hardly any mention of Kane’s children, especially Pele, the Hawaiian Volcano Goddess. My family and I have visited the island of Kauai for vacation three times now, and we have seen Pele’s impact on Hawaiian culture firsthand.
In Brave New World, Aldous Huxley presents us with a Dystopian society, for as we read, there is a revelation of the true nature of the society. The basis of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave is that the shadows in which the trapped conformists see are the flawed reflections of ideal forms, such as beauty. Within the society of Brave New World, the entire population appears perfect for they are manufactured to be that way, therefore, the ‘outsiders’ appear as the flawed reflections of their ideal forms, which is present in the Allegory of the Cave, as well as other similarities. Within the trapped society in the World State and Plato’s cave, there is a general origin of knowledge, since birth.
Many Native Hawaiian people have lost touch with their culture. Many people around the world don’t know about the unique Hawaiian culture. People in America don’t know a lot about these unique Hawaiian arts either. Many of the old Hawaiian traditions were lost because foreigners took over the Hawaiian islands and banned many Hawaiian traditions that have been going on for decades. This loss of culture was devastating for the people and was hard to gain back after almost being completely eliminated.
White Water is a huge water park and a great place to cool off. One of the attractions is a Lazy River, which has water jets that pushes visitors through a canal that winds throughout the park. The park also includes a wave pool that pushes and pulls water causing waves that get bigger and bigger as water depth increases. White Water isn 't just a day time event; throughout the summer months they host movie nights. This event is held in the wave pool, with the waves turned off so people can float freely without bumping into others.
The Incas religion was based off of mostly nature. They had believed their gods claimed three different realms, the sky or Hanan Pacha, the inner earth or Uku Pacha, and the outer earth or Cay pacha. These realms were important to the Inca. The god of sun was most important to the Incas. This god was known to be the ancestor of the Incas.
Easter Island: The Mysteries of the Moai On a tiny island off the coast of Chile, two thousand miles from the nearest civilization, there stand hundreds of massive stone statues hewn from rough volcanic rock in the shape of human faces. These statues remain a great source of controversy and disagreement among the scientific community. Almost nothing is left over from the time of the figures or their creators to explain them but ancient island lore and legend, unproven stories that serve only to create more mystery than they explain.
I had a fear of water since I was a child, but somehow managed to take a risk and dive. You know the feeling of being underwater? Underwater, there are no sounds from the outside world - no cries from those you have wronged, no professions of love hidden inside for too long, no vicious words flung ruthlessly at your feet from the glares of passing strangers.
