Wallace View is a residential care home in the town of Stirling. Wallace View is owned by a company called Country wide which is an English based company and has other homes throughout the United Kingdom, also Country Wide is also a part of the Maria Malaband Care group.
In particular Wallace View can have up to 60 service users and there are two floors throughout the home, the upper level of the home is a dementia unit and has 30 residents living there, likewise on the ground floor however it is a frail and elderly unit. The needs of the residents can vary as some of the residents are extremely independent and need minimal assistance with their daily living, however there are other residents who need a lot of assistance with all aspects of daily living for example there are a high number of residents who …show more content…

Because it is a residential care home it doesn’t require nurses to work there but in Wallace View the service requires nursing care as that’s what the residents need.

Q2.) Identify and discuss at least two current social policy initiatives which relate to your service user group.

The two social policy initiatives I have researched into are the Securing Better Mental Health for Older Adults (2005), this relates to the service user group I work with as this policy is trying to notices that there are gaps/much needed improvements in the services provided for older adults with mental health problems and such gaps could consist of improving the effectiveness of treatment for older adults with mental health issues which in affect will promote the individuals quality of life. This is a big area for improvement as many mental health problems go unrecognized which can worsen an individual’s mental state and catalyst a rapid health deterioration if not seen by a doctor or GP.
