Song of myself essay What Whitman is expressing about the individual is, the individual is not superior or lower than any other person. They stay in his or her place, that they are suppose to be in. The individual does not take the spot of the center. They are their own person, which they say they are no better or greater than another, they will do what they tend to do and not show off. The most feelings expressed here is that the individual is itself. As in no better or lesser than another. Whitman states,“ I resist anything better than my own diversity, breathe the air but leave plenty after me, and am not stuck up, and am in my place”.
