What effect did the wars of the roses have on the community?

The war of the roses was between Lancastrians and Yorkists in England 1455 to 1485; it was an upshot of The House of Lancaster seizing the reign over the throne in 1399. Lancaster and Henry V, IV or VI, were both descendants of King Edward III and had equal rights to the throne; however, the York’s felt their King Lancaster was worthier of reign. Feuds erupted amongst the extended family of the two vigorous houses as both decedents but “according to the barons, the York family, cousins of the Lancaster’s, were truly entitled to reign.” Tumult sprung from this struggle for power, the war of the roses, resulted in changes to the medieval hierarchy, …show more content…

The countless amount of fights that happened between the Lancastrians and the Yorkists affected the warfare and the citizens of England. Two main groups soon emerged with different views on how the realm should be governed in the absence of an effective king. Unlike preceding Kings, the York’s didn’t take over, this occurred since there was no York Kings in line for the throne, but instead the Lancastrians powers over-through the York’s in a battle between Henry Tudor and Richard III and Henry was proclaimed King. It was finalized that the final victory went to the Lancastrians and Henry VII son Edward marred the daughter of Edward IV. Then the Tudor period is established in 1485 and 1603 in England and Wales, which brought peace and centralization. (The state of England after the Wars of the Roses. (n.d.). When the wars finished, England reformed to be controlled and under the reign of a leader.
