War Unit “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength”-George Orwell, 1984. War is just horrible and is not an effective way of dealing with problems. War only brings pain to people’s lives and brings money to the people with power. When a nation declares war, people should always question. If people feel uncertain about war, they should always look for factors before deciding if war is unacceptable or not. People should always consider why they are going to war because if they do not, they are literally walking blindfolded into the unknown. For example in the documentary "Why We Fight," it stated, " 'Lots of people think we fight today for freedom.' " Lots of people did not know what America fought for in the video …show more content…
For example, in “Should I join the Military? 11 Reasons the Military is a Good Career Option” it states, “Patriotism, defending our nation, and a sense of duty. Military service is a time-honored way to serve others first.” Patriotism should be the only and single thing we should fight for because when we fight for patriotism, we are fighting for what is ours. Lots of people join the military because they want to fight for their country, but then they end up fighting for a different reason. Another example would be in “St. Crispin’s Day Speech” when it states, “He that outlives this day and comes home, will stand a-tiptoe when this day is named, And rouse him at the name of Crispian...This story shall the good man teach his son.” This means that those who fought during St.Crispian get to stand higher than those who did not because they were brave men that stood there through everything and fought for what they believed in. People need to start realizing that they are the ones that have the right to choose what they want to fight for and not the people in power. At the end of war, nobody seems to gain anything from it; the only people that actually gain something are the ones with
