Was preserving collective memory significant In Night?
Argue the significance of Elie Wiesel's Night in preserving collective memory and promoting the necessity of remembering the past to prevent future atrocities. In the beginning of the book he wondered why he prayed to god. God was needed for prisoners to have faith in escaping and they needed to believe god that they were going to escape. God is unconditional. Eliezer cannot imagine living without faith in a divine power. Elie thought that since God was good, he learned that God is everywhere in the world and must therefore be good, but was wrong when he faced cruelty and evil during the Holocaust.
