Our experiment was conducted in late January at Wet Beaver Creek. Wet Beaver Creek is located south of flagstaff in the Coconino National Forest. Wet beaver creek has an elevation if 1158 meters, with an average annual precipitation of 16.71 inches, and an average temperature range of 80.8 in July and 43.1 in December. Wet beaver creek features both Perennial and non-Perennial rivers, and is home to many species of trees including sycamore, Juniper, Cottonwood, Alder, Ash, and many more.

The objective of the sludge lab was to determine how many different pure substances were in the sludge by using the methods and techniques we have learned throughout the year. We had to pick separation methods so we could separate our sludge and then test characteristic properties on our separated liquids and solids. This experiment made us use our knowledge on characteristic properties to pick the ones we should test to help us identify our pure substances. Characteristic properties are properties that help identify a solid or liquid. Each solid or liquid has a certain density, boiling point, solubility, flammability, so if you know what each one is then you can use that information to help you identify your solid or liquid.
This documentary opened my eyes to many of the things that occur in my own country. I knew that politicians were looking for a way to use the resources that we have here in our own country instead of having to buy them from others, but I would have thought they would have done it while in the best interest of the people. Before watching this documentary, I was not familiar with natural gas or any of the processes that it takes to make it. I just knew that it was an efficient energy source. With any resource that we remove from the earth, we risk hurting people and many other things in the process.
From 10 bottled water brands tested by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) found “38 pollutants in total, which ran from disinfection products, arsenic, fertilizer residue, plasticizers and pharmaceuticals” (“New Study” 3). “New Study” mentions the government’s requirement on water utilities to notify of any pollutants in the water, which manufacturers of bottled water are not required to do at all. If consumers do not have any idea what’s in their water, then they cannot trust that water like they can tap water. Bottled water has multiple unseen risks associated with just drinking it. These three articles bring up multiple issues created by the mass popularity of bottled water.
In fact, 25% of bottled water is processed tap water (Foltz 301). Is bottled water really healthier than the tap? Bottled water makes the claim they have no recorded deaths or illnesses. There have been more than 900,000 illnesses and more than 100 deaths from tap water because the Federal Government requires the EPA to report illness within 24 hours
Finally, these were some of the reason why people decide to drink tap water instead of bottled water which must people believe is safer. Bottled water comes from natural resources or public resources that goes through a purification process, the water is then put into a bottle where it’s send to a retail store to be purchase by a consumer. This means that 25 to 40 percent of the bottled water is not any different from the tap water only that it has been exposed to or has a high concentration of the chemicals used to manufacture the packaging plastics. Due to the pathetically primitive regulation of the bottled water, the manufacturers are not keen to inform the consumers of the contaminants that are present in their water. Drinking water is an essential part of life and critical for good wellbeing. Eventually, we are comprised of 65% of water. While we are continually being instructed to drink our eight glasses of water a day, we aren't typically guided about which water we ought to trust and drink. However, there has been some noise around whether bottled water should be banned, leaving tap water as the only and free resource for drinking. To help clear this uncertainty, I strongly believe that bottled water should not be banned as it helps avoid contaminated public water, achieve optimal health and resolve water emergencies.
