Water has the capacity to kill, and often in this story, death comes in the water or from the water. Water is a dangerous force to be reckoned with in The Odyssey. Water has a part in why Ulysses didn’t get back to Ithaca for twenty years.
The Greek epic poem, the Odyssey, was told by Homer but the date of its creation is unknown. Even though the book mainly focuses on Odysseus, the monsters such as Polyphemus, have an important role. Homer portrays Polyphemus the cyclops as uncivilized throughout Book 9. He does this to show us to reinforce the morals of Odysseus and increase conflict and tension.
2. Water in the Old Testament In the Old Testament, we see water rightly at the creation story. The first mention of water is found in Genesis, where it is said: “the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the water”. Furthermore, in Genesis, it says: “Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures”.
In the article, “Forget Shorter Showers” by Derrick Jensen, the author shows the reader how they are not truly saving the earth by showering less, producing less waste or by limiting use of power. Jensen’s article tends to lean more toward the anti-capitalistic view of capitalism causing the earth to crumble due to the government and the elites of the world. These facts are proven by Jensen’s research into the actual use of energy consumption showing that individuals tend to use only a fourth of it, leaving the rest to be wasted away by the big corporations. Jensen also furthers his argument by showing the amount of waste used by citizens.
The 2009 documentary River of Waste, directed by Don McCorkell, attempted to encourage the people to make sure to have a cleaner river and not to litter it with trash. They are trying to encourage you to keep a clean river. It would be better to have a clean river and not one littered with garbage. One where people throw away the trash and recycle any type of cans or plastic. Not throwing it in the river because that would kill a lot of fish and make the river look nasty.
The documentary ‘Trashed, with Jeremy Irons’ focuses on how the waste management industry is having deleterious consequences on human and animal life on this planet. By using case studies from around the world, Jeremy Irons takes the viewer on a narrated journey from Lebanon, to the UK, to Vietnam, and to the North Pacific, all with the objective of demonstrating how the ways in which humans get rid of waste: through landfills, incinerators, and oceanic dumping, are harming human health, destroying people’s livelihoods, and adversely affecting animals’ welfare. Irons concludes this dismal narration of the anthropogenic harms of the waste industry with an uplifting look at the positive changes that grassroots organizations are effectuating in the disposal of waste. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge is a detailed poem that explains to the audience the, Mariner’s journey in a secluded manner. This poem connects with the allegory of crime, punishment, redemption because of the Mariner’s action caused everything. This poem is a typical archetypal journey because by the Mariner personality has caused a sequence of events to happen that all lead up to one main focus.
“The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by S. T. Coleridge, does not appear, at first sight, to be a political poem. However, by taking a closer look, the political beliefs of Coleridge are an important subtext in this poem. Coleridge, as a supporter of the revolution, saw the importance of a moral revolution prior to a political one (Kitson, 1989, p. 198). This might be the first clue as to why this poem can be read as a convert documentary of the French Revolution. The poem rises moral questions of guilt and restoration that can be associated with the revolution.

This has led to an increase of the pollution in many developing towns such as Ga-kgapane. The most disturbing and problematic forms of pollution in Ga-kgapane is the pollution of the natural streams. Water pollution is when there is a build of one or more substances in water to such an extent that it causes problems for animals or plants.
