Living inside a painting Art is a very strong way to express feelings, emotions, and thoughts. Wayne Thiebaud is known for his very famous paintings such as, pastries, cakes, pies, toys, etc. Wayne will always be known for his still life artwork. The title of this famous artwork is called Valley Streets, which was created in 2003. The mass is in 2D being that it is flat on a canvas. The medium of this amazing artwork is oil paint on canvas. In which dimensions are 48 in. X 60 in. It is located in The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art by The Doris and Donald Fisher Collection. In which means something is in front of the other subject matter. In just about every part of this painting there is another tower or building overlapping one another. In the center focal point of this painting the factories are overlapping one each other. Value is the depth of the darkness and or lightness of an image. Value is claimed to have highlighted, light, shadow, reflected light, and a cast shadow. Value is seen in the bottom right hand side being the bushes giving a vivid cast shadow from the sunlight. There are shadows in the streets showing the light hitting against the buildings. The green dome in the center has a reflected light on the top. The air continuing vents on the top of the building are repeated three times. The cars driving by the streets are a receptive pattern. There is five of the same bushes on the bottom right hand side of the painting. It is a constant pattern of the same thing more than once. Asymmetry is when you feel balanced on one side of the painting but not on the other. Towards 80% of the focus is on the left side of the painting. While still giving a vivid feel of how spacious it is. In other words, the left side is also giving a mixture of agricultural and urban. However, the right side of this painting is more condense with things cramped up. Proportion is described as size versus the whole. The bigger the object seems the closer it will be. Such as, the quadrilateral in the left front of the painting has bigger dimensions which gives a closer feel to it. In the other hand, the tiny buildings in the far back hill are almost unseen.
