Slurs are used in different ways such as; racial, to get under those who seem unworthy of the person reciting it, to get under one’s skin and to aggravate others, and persuading to hit companions and teammates in some circumstances. Society used slurs to offend mostly the colored community as were seen lower on the social ladder and were primarily used by the white, wealthy community. Athletes use slurs to get inside of the opponent's head, being distracting to the game and how it’s being played. The growth and use rate of slurs of different kinds has steadily increased from the 1800s to now. Slurs are not only used today, many people from the community used slurs to discriminate against blacks and other races as a result of the white society presuming whites have the authority to regulate others. The use rate has gone up dramatically since the 1800s. “Redskins receiver Pryor Sr. said...he was the subject of multiple racial slurs shouted by Chiefs fans..” (Master). However, many racial slurs are not as hurtful as others, but if used in the wrong grammatical statement slurs can be interpreted as such. Political figures can twist the way that people can use slurs, however, most people catch on to what is being said and can take transgression to it. “Redskins players all chose not to kneel during the anthem after seven did so the previous week following President Donald Trump’s comments about NFL players.” (Master) furthermore, presidents can usually par with subjects as being the president is an immense deal, however, what Donald Trump said to the NFL players is considered harassment and racist with the slurs he used describing the situation. Not only has using racial slurs made a drastic increase over the years, there are some people that have made new ones that can be considered offensive and
