As time passes, things change: our culture, lifestyle, body, and more importantly our way of communication. There are 196 countries in this world, and 6,500 different languages are spoken every single day. As time changes, mistakes are made, to keep moving forward, we have to let go of the past. The “N” word was used as a way to offend the African American slaves during hundreds of years. Then it was used to discriminate free African Americans after the Civil War, and it kept spreading since then. Even though, it was thought to be forgotten, civilization brought it back. As of today most of the youth does not use it as a racist term against African Americans, they use it as a friendly greeting. A friendly greeting where only the youth had the courage of letting all the pain, discrimination, and humiliation go, but still some consider the “N” word that should not be allowed in our modern society. The “N” word should be acceptable not only because it has changed over time, but also, the spelling is used in another way, and is used in our music.

The word “Nigger” Survived through the years and have a hurtful meaning. Many people including Caucasians and some African American would agree that it does have a history of pain that has been attached to that word. “White people aren’t driving around….. saying it. I promise you. At least all white people that I know and I only know like a thousand ….it’s severely impolite and really hateful.” - Neal Brennan, old people would agree that it is hurtful word because they stood by it, they were around that time to experience that hate, now people do not experience it as it used to
