The story I wish to share this week for the written assignment is The Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert W. Service. The story is about a man named Sam McGee and his quest for riches during the gold rush along trail in the frozen Yukon Territory. As he traveled with his best friend Cap, he spent a great deal of time whining and complaining about how ever since he left his home in Tennessee he had been cold. Many nights Cap had to endure the same conversation revolving around this topic.

The Clutters were brutally murdered on the night of November 15, 1959 in the comfort of their home in Holcomb, Kansas. Now you may be wondering who were the Clutters and why is their death important? Well let’s start with who the clutters were. Herb and Bonnie Clutter along with two of their children, Nancy and Kenyon Clutter were murdered in the comfort of their own home.
Grant’s white horses finally arrive for him and he become more aware and gathers insight about how to learn and cope with tragedies in his life. Waiting for white horses is the theme by how people will become able to receive intuition about the journey of their life. There is an idea expressed towards the end of the book that describes Grant’s dad’s funeral. It is the idea of a funeral being sad that I refute with. I disagree with the books thoughts and believe that funerals should not be mournful, but in fact they should celebrate and reflect someone’s life and also celebrate the beginning of one.
No one will ever know what drives people to undertake missions that could be the difference between life or death. Daniel Wright is a leader in a war-torn, rebellious, United States who is trying to reach a better life for his friends, and what’s left of his family. Farah Ahmedi lives in a war-torn Afghanistan, and is seeking a better life for her family. The Narrator in the cremation of Sam McGee wanted to come through with the promise he made to his friend as he was dying.
Get Rich or Die Trying During the Yukon trail gold rush, many people risked their lives and many others died all because they wanted gold to have a better life and provide for their families. In Robert W. Service’s poem “The Cremation of Sam McGee” it depicts the struggles the characters went through for gold. This poem which was written a hundred years ago is still a relevant poem today, because of its figurative language, voice, and imagery. Robert Service’s first literary term is figurative language.
In Dierdre Sullivan’s powerful essay, ‘Always Go to the Funeral’ she discusses the the importance of going to funerals. Sullivan remarks in her essay that funeral attendance hold an important philosophy, which is do the right thing even if it’s an inconveniance for you. Sullivan explains that these small gestures, like attending a funeral, could have little meaning for us, but could carry a significant importance for someone else. This meaningful message is one we could all relate to, always go to the funeral. Unsolicited or not, fathers give advice.
Generally speaking, humans cannot be entirely prepared for dying or the death of a close person in their life. Some people say that facing death gives a person both opportunity to grow mentally and the strength to carry on in life; however, it can be too much to handle alone. Help can be needed not only from relatives and peers, but also from the experts. Strong grieving is more than usual, but life must eventually carry on. Death can be both interesting and frightening at the same time because nobody knows what happens afterwards.
In the case of Akins Funeral Home, Inc. v. Teresa Miller, three young people died from a terrible car accident on February 20, 2000. The twist in this story surrounds a nineteen-year-old victim by the name of Matthew Miller who left behind his mother Teresa Miller, Andrea Megan Miller which just happened to be the wife and mother of his child along with other family members whose names weren’t listed. However, the body of Matthew was transported to Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper, Alabama. At the Millers’ family request, Doil Akins of Akins Funeral Home, Inc. took custody of the body and brought him to Akins Funeral Home, Inc. Because of the families religious beliefs they arranged for a normal open casket funeral.

Field Trip Assignment When considering the entities involved with death and dying, the first place that came to my mind was the funeral home. When someone in your life passes away, you likely find yourself at the funeral home or at least becoming aware of funeral arrangements soon after the death. This is the route I went with and decided to visit Reigle Funeral Home for my field trip assignment. The Reigle location that I traveled to was on Pierson Road in Flushing, Michigan.
There are some people in the world that do things for others just to get something in return, and then their are people that just do for others because they are good people. In Walter Dean Myers short story,”Big Joe’s Funeral,” the main character Big Joe cancels his life insurance check and after careful contemplation the idea he decides to have a funeral for himself, while he is still alive. Everyone that knew what Big Joe was doing had contrary opinions to the funeral, but Big Joe had his mind set. At the funeral Big Joe looked like he was deceased and it was very normal; people had good words to say about him and he even had dirt thrown on his coffin. Myers uses Big Joe to deliver his message that respect is that people deserve respect all of the time no matter where you are or what the circumstances.

Life and Death in Assisted Living Facilities Assisted living facilities are one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. Unfortunately, assisted living facilities have a history of being problematic. Specific cases from the movie Life and Death in Assisted Living Facilities indicates that assisted living facilities are often under staffed, poorly trained, and often admit elderly patients who are not qualified candidates for their facilities (Byker and Thompson, 2013). When taking this in to account, it is important to consider why families may admit their loved ones in to assisted living facilities.
A hospice provides a more suitable environment for those at the final stages of their lives compared to a hospital for a multitude of reasons. Hospice care is designed to care for all aspects of the person life; they provide physical, mental, and religious services, as well as caring for the patient’s family. Since hospice care is also available at home, the patient has the opportunity to die in familiar surroundings. On the contrary, hospital care provides primarily physical services to the patient and is focused on the patient’s disease. Also, dying in a hospital can be less pleasant because a connotation of hospitals is illness which is a negative quality compared to that of a home, where a person is surrounded by their memories and belongings.
