One Too Many Exclamation Points Voters want to choose the most efficient leader, but politicians’ manipulative natures and the different types of propaganda in politics make it difficult when trying to decipher which politicians are frauds. Dale Peterson tries to sell himself to the people of Alabama in his campaign video titled “We are Better than That!!!!!” It opens and closes with a photograph of The Constitution and his and military and a farm setting, showing Alabamian voters something personal about him (his most significant strategy). Paterson believes his leadership can best suit the Alabama Agriculture Commission because of his patriotism and love for American farms, but more specifically, the farms of Alabama. He smears his opponent’s campaign, however, making him sound less like the honest man he tries to portray and more like a grumpy, old man who has numerous sly comments about the other team. Paterson gives insight to his viewers about the responsibility of the agriculture commissioner for the amount of money , but not any proof why he thinks it is not used correctly. He also states the fact that Alabama loses three family farms a day and the unemployment rates are at their all time high in Alabama but not an actual number. At the end of the video, however, he does provide his contact information so individuals can seek additional information about him which is a excellent strategy for any political candidate. No one knows if any of his facts are true due to his lack of sources, but if he had said the phrase “according to” with any credible source behind it, his use of logos could cause his campaign to succeed.
