The American colonies are justified to be free and independent of British rule. The colonists were people of British descent that were driven out of England due to the fact that they couldn’t practice their religion freely. Britain began to tax the colonists very unfairly, to pay for the expense of the French and Indian war. Major conflict began when the colonists privacy was invaded and rights were denied, they began to boycott British goods. The idea of “No taxation without representation” was of course violated by the British even though it’s stated in the Magna Carta, they had no protection in Parliament. Giving the colonists no word in what taxes were passed was immensely unfair in regards to their rights. In the Magna Carta it was stated …show more content…

They were passed to establish to them who was in charge, which would not go over well. These Acts were done in revolt to the Boston Tea Party, when men dumped ship loads of tea into the Harbor. The acts were: Boston Harbor would be closed, with no ships coming in or out. No town meetings were to be called unless by the governor which was called the Massachusetts Government Act, basically terminating the colonies self government. This was directly violating what was stated in the colonial charter- the right to self govern.The third act, the administration of justice act, gave a choice if trials would be held in England with a British judge if a british offical was accused of committing a crime, making the witness have to travel giving the colonists once again, no right to speak and be justified. The fourth act was the quartering act which said that the colonists had to provide housing to british soldiers, in their own houses, another violation of their personal privacy. The last act was the Quebec act, which extended the provinces boundaries into the Mississippi river which was viewed as the colonists land after the French and Indian war. hurting the fur trade in the colonies.
