The Revolutions aren’t always successful. Certain things can help a revolution become successful such as exchange of power, support of the people, and different governments. If the outcome of the revolution isn’t what you set out for, it isn’t successful. The American and Haitian Revolutions were successful. The Haitian Revolution succeeded with ending slavery and the French control over the colonies. The American Revolution succeeded with the colonies declaring their Independence. Power is something most people go for in a revolution. People want to overthrow their king or queen so they start a revolution. The Colonies became angry when the government started taxing their goods that were normally free. Many started boycotting British goods. Boycotting is when you refuse to use or support that good or service anymore. The Boston Tea party occurred when a group of colonist dressed as American Indians boarded a ship at night (Pavao, Causes of the American Revolution). When they got on the ship, they dumped all the tea in the harbor. The intolerable acts came as a response to the Boston Tea Party. Imposed by the king, the intolerable Acts were the Boston Port Act, The Massachusetts Government Act, The Administration of Justice Act, The Quartering Act, and The Quebec Act. These acts were created to punish the colonies for destroying the tea shipment. The Boston Port Act was when they closed the port of Boston until people had repaid for the destroyed tea. The Massachusetts Government Act put Massachusetts under British control (Pavao, Causes of the American Revolution). The Quartering Act made the colonies provide housing for the British soldiers. The Administration of Justice Act is what allowed royal officials to be tried in Britain if the king felt it necessary for fair justice. The Quebec Act expanded British territory into Canada.
