Not Quitting on Valley Forge Valley Forge is a winter camp 18 miles from Philadelphia. At Valley Forge, many soldiers got sick due to lacking in supplies and food. Many soldiers started to quit, but I was one of many who decided to stay. One reason I have decided to stay is because of the estimate or death and illness’ to the people who stayed alive.(Doc. A)
Valley Forge - The Camp Of Death Valley Forge is a winter camp that has caused loads of deaths. There is low supplies and they have very poor weather conditions. I wouldn’t want to stay at Valley Forge because I wouldn’t want to be apart of that type of environment. In the engraving of a painting by Henry Powell it shows George Washington presenting Congressional Committee to soldiers at Valley Forge. (Doc B) If you look closely you can see the soldiers have no shoes, which shows the lack of supplies they have.
Due to tensions with Great Britain, the United States declared war in 1812, giving form to a war that had been building for years. Though the war was between Great Britain and the United States, France also played a part in building up to this war. It started as Britain and France went to war and didn’t want the US to be trading with their enemy. Subsequently, France captured ships headed to Britain and the British captured ships heading towards France, impressing sailors to fight in the war. Congress, persuaded by Jefferson, passed the Embargo act and later the Nonintercourse Act, which blocked off trade from France and Britain.
Valley Forge, Leave it There were no beds just straw on the mud floor. Cold was one problem; smoke was another. I would leave Valley Forge during the winter due to several reasons. Document A states, “Death estimates due to illnesses during encampment December-June: 1,800-2,500.” This shows that many people died during the Winter at Valley Forge.
I believe that WWII was indeed the last total war of the modern era. "Total war is a military conflict in which contenders are willing to make any sacrifice in lives and other resources to obtain a complete victory. " This was made obvious by numerous factors including Operation Meetinghouse or as many know it the firebombing of Tokyo. The United States unleashed a fury of which has never been seen before. Over 1,000,000 were made homeless and 100,000 civilians were killed in this raid.
The significance of this relatively small battle was that the British have established a strong presence in New France, now known as Quebec. They defeated France in the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, and took control of New France. This led to the power of the British in North America. The defeat of New France made the British gain confidence in it 's colonies such as Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New York. This encouraged Great Britain for greater independence, leading to the control of what now is the country of Canada (and in other cases the United States of America).

The British army is comfortable in Philadelphia, while Valley Forge has harsh conditions with the cold weather and the lack of supplies. I will not reenlist when my 9-month enlistment is over. I will not reenlist for these reasons, diseases, lack supplies, and cold weather and smoky air.
Hook/Background Information: Valley Forge was a place for heros but many left. Soldiers died of hunger and harsh weathers. Was Valley Forge that bad? Valley Forge was a place of misery. Many soldiers abandoned the forge and others abandoned tragically.
Valley Forge is a winter camp led by George Washington to train troops, and to win the Revolutionary war. Stay, fight, win at Valley Forge The Continental Army, which are people fighting in the Revolutionary war for U.S., are staying at Valley Forge in 1777. They were staying at Valley Forge because they are keeping an eye on the British army. I will stay at Valley Forge because not many people are staying so they need more people now more than ever. In The American Crisis by Thomas Paine (Document D) it shows that people want to win. Thomas Paine says that if it’s hard work then it’s worth more, than if it’s a easy win you wouldn’t care as much.
The American Civil Liberty Union was formed during WW1, because the Federal Government was constraining people’s freedom of speech and throwing people into jail because they went against the government. So during the 20’s people started to have more and more freedoms and many of the laws the Government had in place to suppress the people were starting to be repealed. People were starting to be subject to advertisements from coca cola to phonographs. The people in the 20s people were living free they were drinking and expressing themselves more than they ever had and that had some groups upset. I don’t believe the 20’s were decadence they were the building blocks of a country that is open to all persons and cultures.

Eight hundred years ago in the 13th century The Mongols gained the name “barbarians” for their harsh battle tactics, laws and punishment. So how barbaric were The Mongols really?
On December 16, 1944, the Battle of the Bulge had made its everlasting mark in World War II. I chose this topic because I love how the Allies had a strong endurance and stayed powerful and thrived until the very last second of this battle. This year long war started with Adolf Hitler trying to separate the allies in the Ardennes Mountains. The Germans break through the front lines of the Allied armies. The Generals in this battle included, George S. Patton, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Adolf Hitler.
In my opinion I think that the United States joining the war on the side of England, France, and Russia in April 1917 was a bad idea. I think this for three main reasons. My first reason is because nobody but President Wilson has a say in the war. My second reason is who gets the money and benefits from the entire war. Finally, my last and final reason is because overall we weren’t really ready for the war and we kind of brought it upon ourselves.
