Horses have always been a part of my life. Currently I own two horses, which I consider to be my best friends. Born with a bridle in my hand, I fit like a glove on our cattle and horse farm. We raised and managed an average of two hundred cattle and provided horse boarding and training. At six years of age, I broke and trained my first horse. I have trained two world champion Racking Horses and several state champions. Their smooth ride will spoil even dedicated western cowboys. Other duties I had on the farm included working cattle. This job also allowed me to train local champion cutting and roping horses. Western horses have compact body, weighing an average of twelve hundred pounds, with muscular frames and the ability to perform intricate maneuvers. They are also the fastest of all breeds. These attributes make the horse almost universal.
2. Western horses have three gaits including, a flat walk, trot, and canter. The trot is a movement where the diagonal pair of legs move forward at the same time. This rough trot initially uncomfortable to the buttocks, improves the riders overall balance in the saddle thus reducing the discomfort. Western horses are normally very calm and easy to control.
3. Western horses average fourteen and one half hands high (One hand equals four inches). This height is easier to get on and off of especially for a novice rider

Enormous in both width and girth, these animals are rarely a choice of riders. Special built saddles, oversize bits and bridles are required to ride them. Most riders even very advanced ones find discomfort while riding them due to their broad wide body compared to a western horse. I do not recommend anyone buy these animals to ride, as they are build is best suited for pulling large items.
2. Draft horses have a similar gait to a quarter horse, a flat walk, trot, and canter, however their large hooves and broad back make them ride very rough in all gaits.
3. Soaring an average seventeen of hands high and weighing close to seventeen hundred pounds. Draft horse’s height alone is a reason to choose a western horse.
Miniature horses
1. Small in stature miniature horses have broad back for their height. These dwarf animals are a tiny version of the draft horse. There will not support the average adult. Great for small children.
2. These elfin built horses have a flat walk, trot, and canter and can provide great please to small youth riders. I owned a couple of them in my youth but soon out grown them and bought my first western horse.
