This freedom that we enjoy is not free, it comes on the back of our servicemembers. They took the risk and rolled the dice and lost. To measure that devotion to our common ideals and freedom is unimaginable.” Finally, we should respect those who serve and have served because battle can change a man.
Zach’s Reflection Freedom is something we often take for granted and do not realize how much it can impact our life. But how did we earn that freedom and how do we keep that freedom that we so often enjoy without thinking about it? It is because of the brave men and women who are willing to sacrifice everything including their lives to defend our rights and Country. How do these brave men and women get treated after serving our Country is an important issue, which is where originations like the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) come in to help.
To start off, the Articles of confederation, was in essence, the first constitution that gave more power to its states rather than the central government. It based its principles off being a union, and placed the building blocks to the constitution we have today. States were give the authority to rule over their affairs as they see fit. The constitution and the articles of confederation have a lot of similarities. Both articles gave the US a system of government.
Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for the to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was like in the United States where we were free” (Ronald Reagan). Ronald Reagan did his best as an American leader to fight for our freedom and he encouraged his fellow Americans to do the same in hopes that America would live forever.
A veteran is someone who has served a long time in the military, no matter what their age. Veterans are important to our freedom because while serving their time, you have to remember that they are fighting for your right to be free in the United States. Without them, there wouldn’t be any freedom in this world. They fight for what they believe in and what is right for the country. You have to remember, these war vets are putting their lives on the line for people they don’t even know.
“You will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it.”- John Quincy Adams. America has given me the gifts of many things, but above all, America gave me my freedom.
In 1776, Thomas Jefferson wrote the words that still shape America today, “All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” These three rights are essential to my life, and America would not be the same without them. For over 240 years, previous Americans have fought so my generation can have these rights. I believe that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are America’s gifts to my generation. Life is a gift bestowed upon us by God and protected by American law.
Whether you know a veteran or not, they have impacted America in many positive ways. I know that I should stop and think about this more than I do, but I feel that Americans take their freedom for granted in most cases. I often stop and think about all of the things that are possible because of my freedom. My freedom allows me to wed a husband of my choice and someday have a family. I am able to go to college to pursue the career of my choice and interest.
“When people talk of Freedom of writing speaking or thinking. I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall speak no more”.says John Adams about what he thinks about freedom.
When people describe freedom, they usually think of the laws we have to keep our freedom and make this country great. But, freedom isn’t just the laws our government has made to ensure the keeping of peace between all, it’s the past, present, and future of this nation. Freedom isn’t just our laws, though they are a big part of how we live our lives in modern society, but it’s mentality and remembering how it was earned in the first place through knowing what was best for them. The ones who fought for our freedom from Britain are one of the first things that we should think about when we are reminded of freedom in my opinion.
We don 't typically stop to think about our freedom, it is something most of us are guilty of taking for granted. Even when our freedom is brought to our attention, it is only a brief thought quickly pushed to the back of our minds. Most of us are too focused on our own hardships and shortcomings. However, there are a select few who have come to the realization that this freedom is a highly valued prize. These are the people that fight our battles for us because they value the safe haven that our country is.
America’s Gift to My Generation Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, these are three of the many things our veterans fought for to give us. These are the gifts our veterans have given to my generation and more to come. The gifts to america are special and we all should be thankful that our veterans gave these gifts and our soldiers are still fighting to keep them this way. In other words the countless wars happened to give my generation a gift that won 't expire or end, they’ve given us the never ending gift, the never ending gift of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Life, life in the declaration of independence means the preservation of life.
My Responsibility to America Freedom. Something every man and woman wish for, but only some receive. I was privileged with this right, because men and women risked their lives so I could live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Having this freedom allows me to vote, follow the 10 amendments, and to understand what freedom really means.
“ America's Gift to my Generation” Some people eat big dinners as a tradition, but my family likes to do things differently. Instead, we have hunting competitions, which my sister and I win most of the time. The right to bear arms is an amazing freedom for my family. However, many people disagree with the second amendment. To those people, I would say that the second amendment is America’s greatest gift to my generation because it gives me the right to defend myself, hunt, and gives me protection when I do not feel safe.
In 1787, our founding father’s agreed to write a list of principals for keeping people free. Freedom must be limited. People can not just say they are free. You can not just kill or violate just for freedom. There should be respect for people’s wants and needs.
