Black people were always seen as savages and that they are non human. However, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner shows that not every Black person is a savage and they just don’t go out and rape white girls. This film shows a black man, Dr. Prentice, who is very responsible and possibly has been white washed because he is in love with a white girl and is not willing to go against her parents. As we found out in our previous discussion that Black people were considered brutes and rapist but Dr. Prentice has not had sexual relation with this white girl because he wants the consent of her parents for marriage first. He is not shown as the Black masculinity and a dangerous rapacious because he tries to cover up his exposed chest with a shirt when an African American female housekeeper walks in. He also at the end of the film tells his father that “You consider yourself as a colored man, I consider myself a Man”, all supporting the idea that he might have been white washed. …show more content…

Her character did not require a squeaky clean image because African American women were considered as sex slaves and hookers and "hot constitution'd Ladies" who "are continually contriving stratagems how to gain a lover"(White 29). Leticia in this movie had a son who got killed in an accident and her husband was electrocuted in an electric chair.
