The esteem of Congress is very low these days. In Chapter 6 of Principles and Practice of American Politics, Smith and Binder talk about many of the issues facing Congress. Congress has many issues including partisanship and deadlock that, in recent years, have been steadily on the rise. Congress gives off a bad vibe with scandals and ugly campaigns. Many of it’s struggles come from the fact that the two parties can never seem to get along. The Republicans and Democrats practically refuse to work with each other sometimes. In other words, Congress needs help getting itself together. I do not believe that Congress will self-correct, because it has too many issues that need to be resolved. Congress is not nearly as productive as it has been
