The American pitbull terrier was recognized the breed that was rightly seen as the perfect nanny dog for children because of its friendly nature, loyalty and stability (“Joshua Holland”). Pitbulls are highly trusted to be with children and protecting them. In a way the pitbull can be a babysitter because the dog protects and takes care of children. Although pitbulls have attacked children, teens and adults in the past, it should be legal for people in the United States to own a pitbull.
Historically, pitbulls were originally bred to “bait bulls” in the 1700s and early 1800s in England, but recently now pitbulls are now domestic dogs. According to report by Africa News Service The American pit bull breed can be traced back to the bulldogge used in a bloody sport called bull baiting, which was common in the 1700s and early 1800's in England. The bulldogge was put in an enclosure with a bull and it was allowed to tear the bull apart until it was killed. There are other breed of dogs that are more dangerous than a pit bull. The pit bull is less dangerous than a German Shepherd and a Rottweiler. A person that owns a pit bull told the Rocky Mountain News that her pit bull is really friendly and affectionate even with strangers. She also said that there’s nothing from her pit bull that makes her different than other dogs. She also said that her French Poodle is more aggressive than her pitbull (“Current Events, a Weekly Reader publication”). It proves that pitbulls are friendly, affectionate and kind dogs.
