Thomas Jefferson Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States, his best accomplishment was the Louisiana Purchase for 15 million dollars from Napoleon Bonaparte . During Vice Presidency they wanted him to succeed Washington as president, he apparently gave up on politics.When he was Governor Virginia legislature elected Jefferson. His two years as governor were the lowest point of Jefferson's political career. During the brief private interval in his life following his governorship, Jefferson wrote Notes on the State of Virginia (Monticello). During the second continental congress he drafted the Declaration of Independence, along with others. He was was not recognized as one of the main authors until the 1790s, because John Hancock took the credit for all effort. He was member in the Virginia House of Burgesses in May 1768 in his wary political life, he was recognized as a great writer, when his political career started to kick off because of that he was in the organization till it was disbanded by the British.
