Psychologist observe, analyze and evaluate human and animal behavior. There are many fields of studies that fall into the category of being a psychologist. A couple of the most popular ones are clinical psychologist and counseling psychologist. Each psychologist major have different purposes.
To better understand each of those perspectives, the quote will be applied to each perspective starting with biopsychological. Biopsychology is the perspective of psychology that focuses on our brain and nervous system. This perspective also explains how biology affects our behavior and says that the cause of a behavior is our brain. Applying the quote to the biopsychological perspective would explain that the chicken would cross the road because its brain sent electrical impulses down to its feet. This caused the muscles in the chicken’s legs to propel it forward and thus cross to the other side of the road.

What they do: Psychologist conduct scientific studies of behavior and brain function. Collect information through observations, interviews, surveys, and other methods. Identify psychological, emotional, behavioral, or organizational issues and diagnose disorders, using information they obtained from their research. Research and identify behavioral or emotional patterns. Test for patterns that will help them better understand and predict behavior.

There are multiple subfields when it comes to psychology. The subfields that I will be discussing are biological psychology, developmental psychology, personality psychology, cognitive psychology, social psychology, cultural psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, and clinical psychology. Biological psychology, in simple terms, is when you take in account biological characteristics to understand the behavior of animals and people and how they affect one’s mentality. Biological psychology can be researched in many different ways and for many different reasons. Some ways it can be researched is by debilitating or increasing neural function, evaluating the nervous system’s activity, or by using different genetic manipulation/studying methods.
The general idea is to find a path within ourselves in order to lead us to an awakening. This path can improve our brains with the thinking processes that challenge us and sooth us in our daily lives. In a sense, this path leads to the understanding of how neuroscience can control our human emotions. Starting with child psychology. Psychologists focus on an individual child's abilities and how they can assess changes, some of these abilities will include physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. Child psychologists look at how different changes occur in children and why these are happening. Some of these changes are obvious, e.g. changes in height, language ability and physical dexterity. There can be some changes that are less obvious and need more time to be assessed.
Personal Statement Ever since I was a little girl, I have been obsessed with figuring out why we think and act the way we do. I would often play silly “mind games” with myself, or wonder if someone was experiencing the same physical experiences I was. You can imagine how I felt upon learning about neurons and the various cortices of the brain. Then I did not quite know how to put it in words, but now I realise that I am enamored by cognitive science, specifically the environmental and genetic factors that determine behavior. Moreover, as a neuroscience major, I have had the opportunity to be exposed to various types of biology academically.
There is only one approach in psychology that studies thoughts, feelings and behaviour. The biological approach believes that the way we are is due to our genetics and physiology. They believe that the activity going on our nervous system’s is what affects the way we think, feel and behave (Sammons, 2009). The physiology in the biological approach looks into how the brain functions. The brain is a very complicated machine as such, the brain is what controls our every move, every feeling and every action.

For Developing psychology, there are four stages, The Developing of the Fetus, The Development of Infant and Child, The Development of Adolescent, and The Development of the Adult. The Developing Fetus is where a baby starts to develop.
To fully understand human behaviors scientist must understand the four perspectives. The first perspective is biological. Biological perspective relates to how bodily events affect ones thoughts, feeling, and behavior. In other words it ties ones biology to ones behavior.

Social psychology deals with social interactions, and the list of psychology brands goes on each of them focusing in a different area of the human’s life.
