The stock market crashed on “Black Tuesday”, October 29, 1929. Just in one day stocks fell in value 14 billion, by the end of the year they fell 50 percent, then by 1932 they dropped another 30 percent. Around 100,000 businesses went bankrupt, more than 2,000 backs closed, and unemployment rose to 25 percent. Both the wealthy and the poor suffered because of the stock market crash but the poor were the ones to suffer the most. Combinations of many things cause the stock market crash. By the end of the 1920s Stock prices had risen dramatically, when a spectator purchased a stock they bought them on 10 percent margins, they did this by paying only 10 percent of the cost and the rest was barrowed from either banks or brokers.
