Herbert Hoover was the president when the Great Depression Dramatically hit in 1929,many people's jobs started to lower while hundreds of other employees were fired. Some business owners could not afford to pay their employees, and manage to keep the business running. People got fired, banks were going bankrupt. The banks were going bankrupt due to people started taking out their money since they were in dreadful need or the public thought the banks were trustless . When The Great Depression hit hundreds of people lost their jobs leaving them without rent to pay. This lead the people to sleep on the streets with all their belongings.However not only did the people lose jobs and homes, some people could not afford to buy food leaving them in starvation. …show more content…

In March 1930, millions of people were unemployed. When Black Thursday dramatically hit lots of people's lives were forced to change and the stock prices dropped low. Stocks started to sell at a low price than regular, people who had invested lots of money in stocks lost a fortune.
A lot of people lost homes and have been finding different ways to live, In large cities homeless people congregate in abandoned lots and constructed makeshift “homes” these communities were called “Hoovervilles” (Hastings) they were called Hoovervilles because the people blamed the president Herbert Hoover for The Great Depression (Hayes). People suffered due to the fact that homes were being taken from them and sold, some houses that people owned were sold for $25 people would help themselves since the government was not willing to help
