Ecclesiastes 4
Ecclesiastes tells how many people have lived their whole lives suffering. He then goes on to talk about some very strong topics when he says, “And I thought the dead who are already dead more fortunate than the living who are still alive.” [3] He is basically saying that he feels that the people who have died are lucky they are dead because the people who are alive are living in misery. The chapter does pick up again in mood when Ecclesiastes says it would be better with friends because two heads are better than one.

This chapter has shown me that Ecclesiastes is still trying to get the message across to the people that to live their lives to the fullest and always keep gods wishes at heart. This relates back today when people get lost in their busy lives and forget about god. God wants people to act on the wisdom that is given out and not for people to keep performing empty and meaningless rituals. He then talks about people who failing to fulfill their vows they have made to god. He then talks about how wealth and fortune does not always lead to happiness and enjoyment even with all of the delicious food they have been eating they still still struggle to sleep at night. This has a good relation to modern times when people make vows at wedding ceremonies but then go on in life cheating on their loved one even though they vowed to god they wouldn’t do that. Even in regards of money people get so wrapped up in making money and obtaining material objects they forget their true meaning to life and the message they want to spreading. Sometimes I feel get to selfish within their own bubbles and forget about what is going on in the bigger picture.
