This portrays a whole lot of Achilles’ perspective. It may be true. It may be not. But one thing is for sure, time never stops. We are all running out of time. Time is their opponent for living and war is the trigger of the idea if it is game over. Homer’s Iliad is about war. A war that they should win. With that ideology the mortals decide depending of the outcome of the war. That’s why Achilles is able to say such things.

Some say that time, men are slaves of glory. They would fight and would kill one another for the glory that they seek. They could leave their family and their loved ones behind in order to join the war. Men hunger for glory that only war brings.

Also, can wait for long if he truly wanted a thing. That’s why fate is taking it’s time to give the things men awaited for. That makes them patient. That makes them human. That makes them have a patient soul.

Nothing stays the same as it was. Every human being is born to die. Maybe that’s why they chose to achieve glory in a way of fighting for their lives. Years are nothing for them when it comes to honor. Men are ready to die for their own kingdom. As the soldiers fight for their Kings, they are putting their own lives on the line. Same as the Kings in this story, Kings are willing to be burned down with their own kingdom when cornered. As if they are thinking that they will be born again in an instant. Seems like they are throwing away their lives but it is just being a good soldiers and Kings. That’s what they do and that’s their fate.
