We need to stop trying to meet with Jesus but train ourselves to live deliberately for Him. A little bit of structure is a good way to make the deliberate step forward in our faith journey. Work out what part of the day works best for you to be open and available to meet with God. We need to seek ways to which we can feed ourselves spiritually to keep Jesus close, as Paul says to “continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12-13). To grow means to engage with Jesus through His word. We are not to be passive spectators—no, we should be raising the bar in our own lives. The phrase “work out” means to bring something to completion, meaning each of us are responsible for our pursuit of spiritual growth and maturity through obedience to His commands.
