Introduction
One Hope Tulsa is a non-profit organization located in North Tulsa, Oklahoma. They are a multifaceted establishment whose vision is to, “Create flourishing neighborhoods where relationships build resilience and hope changes outcomes.” Their mission statement online states that they hope to, “Love the people in our city well by standing for justice, staying present in relationships and communities long term, and sharing the hope of the Gospel in the context of the local church for the glory of Christ.” One Hope Tulsa offers programming to a diverse demographic of individuals. I wanna pursue it in the way the Lord is leading me and calling me to serve him and serve the bigger picture. Maybe that's making sandwiches every day. Their ministry aligns with the basic principles of CDV in the way that they value image-bearers for their identity found in Christ. One Hope is aligned with CDV ministry design principles in the way they seek to bring the kingdom to earth through Shalom and the local-church. “Community proceeds work” is a principle from CDV 210 that One Hope embodies. They care for the poor. I would argue that this ministry lacks some asset based community development practices like Identify Mobilize and Connect. I believe that One Hope could serve their community in a deeper way by implementing some of these practices, but I also understand that it is complicated to work as a non-profit organization solely funded by grants and donations. According to their staff, there are a lot of questions in the air about what the best use of One Hopes’s resources are right now. This is encouraging and provides us with hope for the future of One Hope and the long-term effectiveness of their
