Jim is one of the main characters from the fictional novel named The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain. The book takes place in the 1830’s, in the Southern United States, starting with Missouri. Jim is an African American runaway slave that lives with hisp “owner” Miss Watson, Widow Douglas and Huck. After Jim overhears of Miss Watsons’ plan to bring him to New Orleans, he is afraid and he fled to Jacksons’ Island. Huck goes to find him and then they both go on adventures down the Mississippi River. Jim is often the character that goes through a lot and manages to put it behind him, and keep going, Jim is also more of a father figure to Huck as the book progresses. A major theme that Jim represents, is freedom. Jim represents freedom because he is a slave, and after he runs when he heard about New Orleans, he feels freedom . “When the two of them are floating on their raft down the river, they feel truly happy and free,”(Keren Perles). This is true, because Jim isn’t being told to do anything that he doesn’t want to, and he’s also not being forced to do anything. “He said he'd be mighty sure to see it, because he'd be a free man the minute he seen it, but if he missed it he'd be in a slave country again and no more show for freedom,”(Twain 104). This is a quote from when Jim and Huck have hope that they will find Cairo. Jim has such an elaborate personality that is very relatable. I think Jim relates to the character Audrey Jensen from the tv series Scream, because her friendship with her friend Noah Foster relates to that of Jim and Hucks as they continue their adventures. Audrey Jensen shows emotional support for Noah, just like how Jim shows that he’s there for huck when he’s struggling. I think Jim and Audrey Jensen are also alike because they because they are reliant on others. They
