My name is Luis Strozzi and I'm 17 years old. I was born on the day October 1 1999 in New York, U.S.A. at that time my dad was apart of the NYPD the New York Police Department, so that Kent I would hardly see him and when I do get to see him it's either in a hospital or when my mom and dad would arguing that he never spends time with us which is true but I did not mind it. wanted to be a policeman just like my dad, each Halloween I would dress up as a policeman. At the age of 15 my dad was shot right in the chest and that was the last time I saw him, when I was around 10 I moved to San Andreas to settle down and that's what I did but all those lonely nights made me think about my dad and his legacy in the NYPD and now I want to take the path
Superman is a man of superhuman powers who time and time again, saves Metropolis from certain doom. However Superman is an extreme example, a hero is generally someone of great courage who does something for the greater good despite the risk involved. Jon Krakauer, author of Into the Wild, wrote a book about a young man named Chris McCandless who abandons his old life to attempt to be self reliant in the wild. Krakauer believes Chris to be a man of heroism, however Chris was far from hero, he was a man who was selfish and ill-prepared who had a dream that turned into a nightmare from his own doings. All of Krakauer’s opinions of Chris are just false hopes and misinterpretations of his life and the purpose of his journey.

Last, but not least, is the “would-be-hero” fire setter. These are the volunteer firefighters or people in public service who want to be heroes in their communities. They set fires, then come to the rescue of those in trouble because of the fires they set, saving people makes the volunteer firefighter a hero in everyone’s eyes. These fires will continue to happen until they are caught, because the hero urge inside them, keeps them wanting more and more attention. “These people have a superman fantasy life, with themselves as the heroic rescuer.
If you could go back in the past and change just one thing what would it be? You have the opportunity to travel back to whatever time period you wish and make one major change in history. Many people I’m sure would choose to go back in time and stop Hitler. A noble idea but a somewhat bland one too. Stephen King no doubt would choose to go back and prevent the assassination attempt on JFK.
To quote Christopher Reeves, the actor who plays the role of Superman in the 1978 film Superman, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” But what does it truly take to deserve the title of a hero? To be a hero you need to be selfless, have integrity, and be loving. This is why I believe Jesus Christ was such an important hero for not just me, but many people throughout the world. He went through many hardships to save numerous people, always was a man of integrity , and healed as well as cared for countless individuals who were sick and helpless.
Superman; the all-American hero who has lasted for over three quarters of a century (Impact of Superman). It’s nearly impossible for a comic book character to exist that long and not change, and Superman is no exception. In fact, from sporting a mullet to fighting Nazis, he changes a lot. These changes may seem random at times, but they make sense when put under this lens; Superman is just mirroring America. Superman comics have changed to reflect society most notably during Great Depression, WWII, and The Vietnam War.
Superman’s Song, written as a eulogy, expresses more than respect for a fallen Superhero; it voices Robert’s grief, thereby creating pathos, at the passing of a great man: “And sometimes I despair the world will never see another man like him.” Roberts expresses not only his own “despair” but the “world's” despair of having lost Superman. Honest men are rare. Rarer yet are men of virtue, men of integrity, and men of compassion. Superman was such a man.
In the story the joy of reading Superman and me Sherman Alexie tells an emotional story of both hardship and success. He shares his struggles of being a poor Indian kid destined to fail, but he had a desire to be persevere he wanted to be more than the stereotypical uneducated Indian on a reservation and was determined to do so. He was inspired by his father to love books, and with the love for books came the ability to escape from the boundaries of the reservation and the dream to be more. Alexie shares how he taught his self to read with a superman comic book and with his witty metaphors how it shaped his life. I found Alexis story to be emotional, but yet very interesting.
When Superman was little he was just an alien that landed on earth, but now he is an icon of goodness to the world. He has inspired the world with his high moral values and has taught us many things about justice and life. He has persuaded countless people to continue working hard and giving everything they can despite of the odds. He is the most powerful person on earth and yet he is humble and honest, two great characteristics of a leader. Superman believes the only way to progress as a person is to accept new ideas, like voting him as president.
In modern popular fiction, respectable superheroes are known as valiant characters that possess extraordinary talents and designate their time to protect the public from villains and crime. It is important for us to understand what constitutes being a superhero as opposed to a vigilante in order to evaluate if a character is a good super hero. The criteria a character must meet in order to be classified as a superhero are that they possess extraordinary powers or abilities, exemplify courage, and hold a strong moral code when it comes to how they obey society’s laws and how they handle villains. These criteria are key in distinguishing the difference between a superhero and a vigilante. DC Comic’s Batman is a good and respectable superhero
In the essay “Superman and Me”, the author, Sherman Alexie recalls the time he first learned to read. He talks about his Indian culture and the perception of people like himself. He also discusses his childhood and the outcome of learning to read. The reoccurring theme of the essay is the love of reading. The author used various literacy devices to express the feelings of empowerment, happiness and the necessity that came with learning to read.
Superman. Batman. Spider Man. When younger kids think of the word "hero", these are the words that come to mind. However, my definition of hero is much broader than a few superheroes- my definition of a hero is anyone who makes a large, positive impact on one's life, or is an exemplar to others.
My adoration of Batman procures from his skills in unarmed combat, deductive reasoning and as a detective. Somewhere in my mind I admire his courage and persistence too. Batman is an embodiment of principle and restraint. Throughout his 75 year run as a character he has never killed any of his foes. We see him struggle with the decision to kill issue after issue, always considering the fact that killing The Joker would save hundreds of lives.
This is what makes me a very observant person. Everybody has weaknesses, but it is up to us whether we want to keep those weaknesses or overcome it. I mentioned that my weaknesses is overthinking, perfectionist and arrogant. Actually my weaknesses are interconnected with one another.
