Wolfgang Schivelbusch’s “The Railway Journey: The Industrialization of Time and Space” in the 19th Century is a book that the views and feelings towards European railroad travel. It focused railroad travel and how it changed people’s perception of space and time. The growth of industrialization and railroads in the 19th century industrialization that surrounded the idea of cultural infuse that was experiences because of traveling with the railroad. The book shows railroad technology is the catalyst to people interpretation of landscape and wilderness as well as human to nature connection. The book examines how new ways of transportation became connected into European societies and changed ways people travel from place to place and who these people communicate with one another . The Railway Journey provides examples to understand change in technology and social communication. The stagecoach was a dependable means of transportation before the building of the railways if a person had a certain amount of money or was a person of wealth, they could travel on railways and go to their desired destination. In a Stagecoach, the interior design which was two rows of seats that faced each other had passenger talking to each other during the stagecoach ride which helped people in a social aspect in which a person could potentially make new friends.
