Thesis: This class is a chance to further my academic credit while gaining new Biblical insight. In the fall of 2015, because of my personal desire to gain academic knowledge, I enrolled at Drury University. At the orientation, I learned that the school was founded upon Christian themes. Furthermore, some of the classes offered (or required, rather), were religion courses under the category of “humanities.” This was to my delight, because previously I had understood the institution to be completely secular. I saw the opportunity to have balance from the Darwinism and humanistic philosophy so prevalent in academia. The sentiment in this new semester remains the same as the first encounter with the Life and Teachings of Jesus, though I am more eager to gain more insight into other perspectives into the doctrine the Apostle Paul advocated. …show more content…
That, in essence is why I chose to take this class as opposed to another humanity class. True, I need credits as I move toward the final goal of graduation, but this class, I feel, is special. Not only the content, but also what can be more important—the instructor. I feel that I can learn more from an instructor whose bias is not against the subject matter of the class. What good would an atheist be in teaching a Bible oriented class? To summarize, I chose to participate in this course because I have a desire to learn, I need credits, and I appreciate Dr, Comer as an
