In the late 1700’s when Britain was in their industrial revolution crime was growing more repeated and prisons were getting to full. These workers were getting so underpaid and some people were even not employed, that they started to resort to violence and breaking the law. Crimes consisting of pick pocketing, stealing bread and other types of food. Britain needed a place to get rid of all these convicts. After the American Revolution, Britain took a tough loss to the americas and lost some of their main Penal Colonies. In desperate need to find a new one, James Cook (a.k.a Captain Cook) came upon the east coast of Australia in the early 1770’s. Some were not very positive but most were. When Britain brought over their ships they brought over more men than women, 545 to be exact, causing a boost in gender equality that would lead into years to come. Another negative impact was that when the white Europeans came to Australia the dismissed and didn’t understand the natives culture and classified them as barbaric and in need of education. Also boosting the racism for yet another country. Along with these new people coming into the natives land, the natives were starting to get out number and beat out by the modern technology that the europeans had brought over. They had better tools and more knowledge causing imperialism to hit the highest peak for Australia. The convicts helped establish the first towns in Australia, but with as these towns were being made convicts were paying their bail and being set free. Most of them becoming business starters or entrepreneurs, making a life for their own in their new land. With the new modern technology gold was found and that was the start of the gold rush for Australia. People were coming from all over to find their own gold exploding the population of Australia and making it bigger. It regularly exports minerals and other natural resources, and its economy continues to grow. The Industrialized Australia we know today came about as a result of the British, who imperialized the country and made it a penal colony. Because the wealth it has now, many would say that the British Imperialism was generally a positive thing. Nevertheless, the catastrophic negative impacts the the british and their imperialism had on australia obscure the nation we know now. When the Europeans came over to their new home and life on this penal colony they didn’t understand the natives, their culture, language, how did they did things were so unusual and weird to the europeans. The ideas about social Darwinism and racial superiority that the British forced into asutial caused a massive wave of racism and abuse towards the natives. Also the british did not think that the natives had any right to most of the land they were living on, causing most of those land to be used for exiling people to the unfamiliar places. The british were using all the natives resources and striping away any power they might have, and murdering the natives because of their race. They also took some of the natives into battle with them, and brought over many diseases that the natives were not used to, killing off a big chunk of them.
