The authors, researchers from the Department of Criminology at University of South Florida and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Texas Christian University, used data and accounts to look into their idea that the more force used by police officers and departments has negative consequences by looking at how close the interactions between police and citizens are in relation to these incidents.
