Next is congruence, which in other words means being genuine. This is where the counsellor is in a constant state of being towards the client and in sync with what the client is experiencing. In contrast the client is incongruent and vulnerable with their feelings as they are experiencing the subjective moment and not in sync with how others may be feeling as this is their session. The counsellor has a high sensory of their self-awareness and should be intuitive with the client’s experience including the ability to be honest at any appropriate time if need-so. Congruence demonstrates the balance between thoughts, actions and the individual, the counsellor assisting the client to increase their own congruence. As the therapy progresses, the
