“The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a novel about love, wealth, and pride. He portrays each character of living the American dream. The main female roles in the novel consist of Daisy Buchanan, Jordan Baker, and Myrtle Wilson. They each are very different as well as similar and have their own specific situations throughout the novel.
Daisy Buchanan is married to the wealthy and prideful Tom Buchanan. She does not seem to have the best outlook on life and believes that most everything in the world is disturbing. Daisy lives day to day worrying about her outward appearance. When Daisy and Tom welcomed their daughter into the world, Daisy says, “And I hope she will be a fool- that is the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool” (pg. 17). She boasts about being such a sophisticated woman to her cousin, Nick Carraway. Throughout the novel, Daisy begins to discover her true feelings for the main character, Jay Gatsby. Jay and Daisy have a relationship that began before her marriage to Tom. When she sees Jay Gatsby after several years in an arranged tea party by Nick, she quickly realizes the mistake she made by not marrying him.
