Huey P. Newton was a Civil Rights Leader and Co-Founder of the Black Panther Party. He served as co-founder from 1966 to 1982, helping black people in areas of Oakland and San Francisco. Alternatively, it states that the program gave an “ urgent need to give poor children nutritious meals so they could be successful in school.”(Pien, 5).

This program, in particular, has proven itself to be very effective in both helping that community and creating an institution that has helped children for the past 50 years. Because of the scale of this program and the attention given by the government, it created complimentary breakfast in schools something that has proven itself to help children. Giving them food but also to help grow their bodies and minds for the day, thanks to the creation of this program children have been getting things to eat and enjoy for the past 50 years.

Now to get down to brass tax, my ideal proposal for a monument would be a statue of Huey; this would be placed at Oaklands Museum of California it will be placed right in front of the museum. This is a call to say that the Black Panther Party is just as essential to the history of California as anything
