Growth and development of an infant occur in an orderly and predictable manner that can be determined intrinsically. The essence of healthy eating cannot be overstated. It is crucial for the health and well-being of an infant during growth and development. Physical activity is also essential for a developing child in reducing the risk of lifestyle diseases and also for muscular and bone development. The first stage is a sensorimotor stage which occurs from birth to the ages of 18-24 months. During this stage, the infants are only aware of what is immediately in front of them. They focus on what they can see, what they are doing and physical interactions with the immediate environment.
