In 2002 a new innovation was spreading and it its wake was the death of every Blockbuster movie rental store (Spangler, 2016). Redbox machines first popped up at McDonald's locations with a lot of foot traffic (Pomerantz, 2009). Many people could not ignore the striking red and the new innovative, the convenience of the product that Redbox provided. The generation of children of today may not get the Blockbuster experience but for them but the joy of watching the movies are still the same Redbox in the simplest terms is a vending machine for movies. As a society, we do not like complication, the easier to use a product the more likely that it will be adopted into use. As mentioned before Redbox as a product is simply a vending machine for movies. Many people are already familiar with how to operate a vending machine. The only difference is the return which is designed to be as simple as possible, it even has its own big red button that says return (Pomerantz, 2009). Red boxes are located at everyday places, from the grocery store to gas stations (Spangler, 2016). It is also outside or near the door so you must pass it as you walk in. Redbox is spread out all across the United States. Redbox has 41,000 vending machines across the country (PR Newswire). In comparison, Redbox has more machines in than “Starbucks and McDonald’s Locations in the U.S. combined (PR Newswire). Though this number is ever increasing due to the simplicity of the business plans design. With so many machines there is little to no chance that you would not see a Redbox. Redbox works on a whim because of the high likelihood that you will see one when you are out and about, it is just simple cheap grab and goes item. Many impromptu movie nights where spurned due to the observability of the Redbox
