Can you imagine what your home would be like without a TV? In 1926 was the very first TV picture to connect worldwide. The TV’s started at 24 inches wide & 30 inches tall; however, TV’s can be purchased as large as 110 inches today! TV pictures were originally in black & white & it was until 1940’s the TV got color & almost a decade later the commercials did too. Also, few channels were available on TV nationally. Today you can use up to hundreds channels of your own choice. From the time television changed, it changed as the world changed. The 1980’s was no exception. The historical, political, and social events impacted television during the 1980’s dramatically.
There was several important political, historical & social events in the 1980’s. One of those was a presidential campaign of 1980’s. Ronald Reagan proposed he had a solution to improve the nation's economic disaster. As president, Reagan unveiled a new tax program called “a second American Revolution for hope and opportunity.” Also MTV, known as Music Television, first appeared in 1981. Luckily, in 1985 David Lucas created Blockbuster, which was a store that would rent out both movies & video games. Also, during this time there was only 3-5 channels to choose from on your TV. This caused going to movies to become more popular. Also Blockbuster became into being because of that situation. Many people used Blockbusters instead of their TV channels because eventually they got irritated watching them repeatedly. Thanks to the 1980’s Cable TV was introduced to us Because of cable, one of the biggest television channels of the 80’s was introduced. On August 1, 1981, MTV, or Music Television started one of the most important outlets for 80’s music. MTV was targeted to teens to think of the television station as a radio
