Percy L. Julian was one of the greatest scientific minds that ever lived. He made many medical advances in history that help us today. Even though he was denied high school education, he was still able to learn at an astonishing rate. He helped contribute to many different and huge medical advances and without those the world would be a very different place. Thanks to him we can live knowing that we will be able to live to be healthy and old into our later years.
Several months previously, Sutherland began experiencing severe coughing fits; his health deteriorating quickly. He was hospitalized and diagnosed with pneumonia. Sutherland was buried in a Toronto graveyard two days after his death. The Terry Fox Foundation (TFF) is an organization founded in 1980 after Terry Fox, a 20-year old patient with bone cancer, ran his Marathon of Hope 5300 km across Canada to raise awareness and money for cancer research. Terry ran “simply to remind Canadians of the importance of finding a cure” (The Terry Fox Foundation ) The TFF holds an annual run in Terry’s name to fundraise for cancer research and bring the visions/values of their organization to life. The TFF believes it is important to tell Terry’s story, and show how one hard working Canadian can make a difference by standing up and doing what they believe in.
