The film Animal Farm vividly portrays the struggling working class against a ruthless dictator. Animal Farm was directed by John Halas and Joy Batchelor, the film is based on George Orwell’s book Animal Farm. The two main characters of the film are Napoleon and Boxer. Napoleon is a fierce looking boar known for getting his way; Napoleon’s demeanor led him to become a ruthless dictator of the farm. Boxer is a carted horse with the strength of four horses, and represents the working class. The film starts with the animals having to live in poor conditions, under the ownership of Mr. Jones. One night Mr. Jones had gotten so drunk that he forgot to feed the animals; the animals were fill with so much rage that they revolted and kick all the humans out of the farm. All the animals have embraced Old Major’s idealism of Animalism; the idea of Animalism is for all animals to be equal and to follow the seven commandments. In the film Animal Farm, Napoleon was a vicious dictator that used his power only to benefit himself. The idea of Animalism was for all animals to be equal, but Napoleon soon after taking control of the farm completely banished Animalism. Napoleon started to demand all the animals but the pigs to work longer hours and extra days. Napoleon was taking away the very little rights that animals on the farm had, like retiring at a certain age and given the opportunity to die on their own terms. Napoleon was favoring the pigs by providing them with a school and giving them extra food. The pigs had a great life under the reign of Napoleon. Napoleon used fear to make the farm obey him, such as slaughtering any animal that argue against him.
