A. How did Jay Cooke and the Northern Pacific Railroad contribute to the Panic of 1873? Jay Cooke financed the Northern Pacific Railroad. This Railroad incited most people because it seemed to have a promise of wealth, so a lot of investment came in. But, when Cooke went bankrupt, the Panic of 1873 began. Many people lost their jobs, and bread lines were seen everywhere.

This control was affected by an unstable alliance of three groups: freedmen, carpetbaggers, and scalawags. The Guilded age was a period of wealth and improvement which was used to cover up poverty and corruption inside the united states. Eventhough there were lots of improvements, not only in technology but also in society, there were lots of problems. Problems such as corruption and poverty. As time went on people started to realise this problems and some got improved, but others didn’t. This gilded age was a problem.
