“The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a love story that embraces American Ideas. This whole story is not just a love story because there are other things going on in the book. The book has a mix of things that come towards you when you are rich and what can happen to you when love takes over. When Gatsby was young he was with Daisy and he had to let her go for a while because he had to go into war and when he came back he was rich and well known. The problem with what he was now was that he had changed his name so no one really knew who he was before. He had changed his name from James Gatz to Jay Gatsby and that's why Daisy didn't know that Gatsby was alive. Wilson was a hardworking mechanic who wasn’t really in the high or middle class but the low class which was being poor. He lived in the “Valley of Ashes.” Unfortunately, Mr. Wilson was not able to display the American Dream, but he was able to embrace the American Dream. Wilson was stuck in a low-class society to the point where no matter what occurred he wasn’t able to escape it. Being poor and unsuccessful, George’s hard work and determination grew on him which embraced the American Dream. However, George wasn’t able to resemble the fire in “the eyes of Jay Gatsby.” Gatsby was able to show what he worked so hard for unlike George, but both had the same idea at one point. All George wanted was to get married to a good women, settle down, and own his own business. Unfortunately, his hard work and willingness to commit didn’t work out the way he wanted them to. The women wanted more, and the business wasn’t doing too well. Nonetheless, he does his part to try and make it all come true. Sadly, the Dream dies with the death of his wife. Then he throws his one life away, Mr Wilson had to throw everything he worked so hard for away just because of an unloyal woman who was selfish for the money and having an affair with another man. George Wilson had to give up his business, including his own life right after he had killed the Gatsby. He had killed Gatsby because he was told by Tom that it was not him driving the yellow coupe, but it was Jay Gatsby driving it when it was actually Daisy when she had ran over Mr. Wilson’s wife, Myrtle.
