Macbeth, three witches tell Macbeth that he will be King of Scotland which prompts Macbeth to devise a plan to kill the reigning King Duncan and claim the throne for himself. In act 1 scene 7, Macbeth hesitates with continuing the planned murder of Duncan, but Lady Macbeth successfully persuades him to carry it out. At the beginning of the play, Lady Macbeth receives a letter from Macbeth telling her he had gotten the promotion to be named the new Thane of Cawdor. King Duncan declares he will go to the Macbeth’s castle to celebrate Macbeth’s bravery and new title. Macbeth’s wife soon tries to convince her husband to do anything necessary to become the new king. Lady Macbeth has now talked Macbeth into killing King Duncan. Macbeth would decide to do the deed, but still would hesitate if he wanted to kill the Duncan or not.
After Macbeth kills Duncan he becomes king and sets out to kill Banquo and his son Fleance so they, he kills Banquo but Fleance escapes. Macbeth becomes hated by his people and ends up fighting
In play Macbeth, Shakespeare reveals that an individual’s great desire for power will lead him/her to perform consequential deeds that will scar his/her conscience and change the outcome of his/her life eternally. Macbeth is informed by three witches that he is going to become king and this initiates Macbeth’s thought of becoming powerful. Macbeth doesn’t act on his thoughts until he tells his wife, Lady Macbeth, that he could become king. Lady Macbeth is extremely power hungry and does all she can to convince Macbeth to be just as desirable as her. Together, they come up with a plan to murder King Duncan, so that Macbeth can become king like the witches foretold.
After Macbeth gets named the Thane of Cawdor it begins going to his head and he wants more power. He wants to become king so one night Macbeth and Lady Macbeth came up with a plan so Macbeth can become king. The plan was to kill the king and the person who is named Thane of Cawdor will become king, so all Macbeth needs to do know is find a way to get the king in a spot where nobody will see Macbeth killing Duncan. One night king Duncan comes to Macbeth’s house to stay the night over and that's when it was the perfect time for Macbeth to do his plan. So that night Lady Macbeth, Macbeth, king Duncan and the king's guards are all eating dinner and Macbeth gets ready for his plan.
With help from his wife, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth plan a murder and with a little hoaxing from his wife, Macbeth pulls it off. The King plans to dine at the Macbeths’ mansion and plans to stay the night. Duncan feels safe going to stay in the castle of someone who protected him just hours before, but he does not know their fatal plan. The plan involves getting the guards of the king’s room drunk and planting the bloody murder weapon next to them. This will make it look like Macbeth has nothing to do with the treasonous act of killing the ruler.
Three witches show him that he will become powerful in the future and gain a seat on the throne. After gaining this vision of power MacBeth gains lots of ambition and kills King Duncan. MacBeth admits to the murder when he says "I have done the deed. Didst thou
A man, goaded by his wife, murders time and again to satisfy his hunger for power, slowly driving himself into insanity through his ambition. Ambition, both a blessing and a curse, lead Macbeth to a series of betrayals and murders of and by those closest to him. Conspiring with his wife in Act 1, Lady Macbeth had convinced Macbeth that by killing Duncan, King of Scotland, he could become the next King. He and Lady Macbeth planned the whole thing; who they would frame, how they would get past the guards, which one of them should be the one to do it, and how would they hide the knives once the deed had been accomplished. At the last second, Macbeth appeared to have a change of heart, but then his wife taunted him, insulting his manhood.
Macbeth evidently undergoes a mental process by which he come round to the idea or murdering Duncan. He does this as a result of his wife’s manipulation, her leverage being his manliness. Without the role of Lady Macbeth, the murder of King Duncan would never have occurred in the play. Lady Macbeth had already been plotting for the murder since she received the letter concerning the three prophecies by the witches. Although Macbeth had sinister thoughts about having the throne, Macbeth would have never dared to take it upon himself to kill King Duncan and steal the throne from
King Duncan then decided he would go to Macbeth 's house for dinner where Lady Macbeth had already been made aware of the situation with the witches and that Macbeth was not named king. When Macbeth arrives home she suggests they kill him, after he declines, she starts questioning his manhood and peer pressures him until he decides to kill Duncan. This act scarred the two sons of Duncan so they fled the country and Macbeth was crowned. Obviously the play ends with Macbeth as the villain, dethroned and beheaded.
Lady Macbeth is power hungry for the throne and she will do anything to achieve her goal. Her pleasure of having the thought of killing Duncan is revealed. These murderous thoughts that run through her mind shows how desperate she is to acquire power. Although it is the beginning of the play, her dark ambitions sets a dark tone for her character in the play. This coincidentally adds to the assurance of Macbeth’s prophecy which is that Macbeth will become king, but King Duncan is still alive.
