The horror story “ the judges house” is written by Bram Stoker. The story was first published in the December 5, 1891.
Abraham “Bram” Stoker was born in 1847 in Dublin, Ireland. He was the third of seven children and died in 1912 in London. Bram was a big fan of horror stories. He also wrote the world famous horror story Dracula.
The purpose of a horror story is to create a feeling of fear. They can feature supernatural elements such as ghosts, witches, or vampires, or they can address more realistic psychological fears.

There is a fat rat and all the normal rats are scared of. In other words, the rats are scared of the fatter rat as if the fatter rat has done something to them The fatter rat that the other rats are so afraid of is an embodiment of the Judge. The fat rat and the judge have some characteristic that are the same. One is that they are both fat. Another one is that they have both eyes that staring and focusing Malcolmson. He noticed the judges eyes when he looked at his picture hanging on a wall. So there are symbolic references behind the small rats and fat rat, and the similar characteristics of the Judge and the rat, but the most symbolic figure is the bell rope. Malcolmson didn’t pay attention to the bell rope but it represents the torturing tool the Judge uses to execute his victims. In one situation rats started climbing the rope up and down so it would start ring and warn Malcolmson. The rats play the role to warn Malcolmson. The fat rat represents an embodiment of the Judge that is seen when Malcolmson looks at the pictures and the bell rope represents life or death, but the time in which Malcolmson uses the rope it is too
