The first learning outcome for Geography is students identify "places and develops an understanding of the importance of places to people" (BOSTES, 2016, p.1). Visual, spatial, gestural, audio and linguistic is used when using maps to show where members of their family where born. Children access a range of multimodal resources and use a variety of semiotic systems, throughout the unit. Resources used to gain an understanding of places to people include artefacts, photos, oral histories, books, etc.
The second Geography learning outcome is that students are able to communicate geographical information and use geographical tools (BOSTES, 2016). Multimodal resources used to support the learning outcome are the variety of maps which are linguistic, spatial and visual.
